Great fares to Greece flying from Sydney. Two stops – Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul. The route to Athens is fairly straightforward with two short stops, but for Thessaloniki the stop in Istanbul is long – 22 hours-ish. However, Turkish Arlines offers free stopover accommodation for stops over 20 hours. You can probably force a long stop for Athens too, if you want to take advantage.
